Responsible Play
The principles and rules of Responsible Gaming are the first thing that everyone who plans to play video games or enjoy any other virtual entertainment should familiarize themselves with. It doesn’t matter if you spend money on this entertainment. Even completely free video games can cause gambling addiction if you play them on a regular basis.
What rules should be followed?
To avoid falling under the influence of gambling addiction, follow these recommendations:
- Have fun for a maximum of 1-2 hours a day. This is the optimal amount of time. For children, you can reduce it even further.
- Don’t get involved in too much dynamic entertainment, especially if you feel anxious, angry, or stressed afterwards.
- Do not abuse paid entertainment. If you do plan to buy paid video games, allocate your budget clearly. Don’t spend your last money, or even borrowed money.
- Combine virtual entertainment with other hobbies. Let your brain be occupied with different hobbies, not just one.
- Monitor your own emotional state. If you feel that something is wrong, that, for example, you are constantly drawn to a gadget or console, then you should take a long break. Start with a few days and during this detox, listen to whether it is too difficult for you psychologically.
If you have difficulties, you should talk to a psychologist to rule out the possibility of gambling addiction. Don’t be afraid to talk about your fears to your loved ones. The more timely the help, the better.
